CNN Tech article- Fitness Apps

CNN- There are new fitness apps popping up all the time. But there are a few that offer more than just tracking how much you run. Apps like Fitbit, Runkeeper, and Endomondo let your friends and other people see your stats and then compete with you. It keeps you motivated to do more and offers a little competition to boost your energy. There is even an app that turns your run into a survival situation. It's called Zombies, Run! It turns your runs into trips for ammo and supplies and you have to run a certain speed to outrun the zombies. These apps make it easier for people to excersize and to have fun excersizing.

CNN Tech Article- Smell-O-Vision

A company in Japan is developing an attachment for phones. One that can spray a scent in the air whilst you are using the phone. The devices are about the size of a thumb drive and there are many different scents in development. But, each different one can only spray one scent, so you have to go and buy a couple to have a full range of smells. It may be used to make games more realistic with smells of the in-game things or it may be just a pointless little device that you hardly ever use. Nevertheless the company plans to release it in the fall.

Career Clusters

For my top Career Cluster I got Law, Public Safety, and Security. Law, Public Safety, and Security is described as Law, public safety, corrections, and security workers are found in a variety of settings. For example, I might guard the public and enforce the law as a police officer or security guard. Or, you might provide fire protection as a firefighter.
Or, be a lawyer and work in the courtroom. To be in this career cluster you have to be able to work with people and be willing to help them. You have to be smart and know the law very well. to get the best jobs in the category you have to take 7 or more years of college. I do think that this career cluster fits me the best. I have wanted to be a lawyer for a while now and this is the career cluster for it.

Google Drive Wrap Up

I liked Google Drive overall. It's ability to save automatically was really the part I liked the most.I always end up losing parts of my documents because my computer freezes or I accidentally close out on Microsoft Word so that feature helped out a lot. I did not like that there was little choice in what you could do on the document or the power point. It does not have as many features or tools as the Microsoft versions. I did like being able to work with my partner on a single document. it lets you get the project done twice as fast and it makes it easier to collaborate. I think that Google could improve Google Docs by adding other types of documents like the many Microsoft has. Overall, the project turned out great. I had fun researching and making the presentation and the survey.

CNN Tech Article

There is now a possibility that your phone screen could be made of manufactured sapphire. Sapphire, being the second hardest material on the planet, would be 3 times as strong as the usual phone screens but will be 10x as expensive. Most phone screens are Gorilla Glass, made by the company Corning, which is usually $3  for a screen. The new sapphire screens will cost around 30 dollars each, but are expected to drop to around $20. Apple's Iphone 5 already has manufactured sapphire for the screen over the camera.

Online A Reflection

Technology is important because it connects people, makes people's lives easier, and lets people see things they would not be able to see without it. Technology has changed quite a bit over the past 5 years. Smartphones have become something that almost everyone has and most people cannot live without them. Computers have gotten faster and capable of more things. Video games and the way we get music has changed and Facebook has become a social media giant. I believe that technology will keep getting faster and more innovative over the next 5 years. As shown by motion detective devices like the Kinect for Xbox or the PlayStation Move, video games and smartphones will become controlled more by motion, than touch.
At school I use a lot of technology. I use computers in more than one class and use my Ipod and my phone to look things up when I cannot access a computer. I use my laptop at home to type essays and other school assignments. But at home I use a lot more technology. I use my laptop, Ipod, and my Xbox to play games. I use the TV to watch the news and other shows.
I will use some of the tools from Online A at home and in school. they will help me do things on the internet faster and better. I think that the RSS feed or iGoogle are the best for lifelong learning because you can connect to so many different News sites, Blogs or Sports pages with the RSS feed and with iGoogle. you would be connected to enough outlets to let you know almost everything important happening in the world. I will probably never use the Avatar, or Delicious again. I had fun creating the Podcast. it was cool to hear myself talking from the computer. My least favorite was the avatar/Voki, my character kept getting deleted and so did my audio, it got a bit annoying after awhile.

Myplick

Podcast

I listened to a podcast about the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the podcast they talked about players restructuring their contracts to leave more space for organization spending. they also talked about free agents on the team. People opt to do podcasts instead of written text because a podcast has audio and people can just listen instead of reading them, the same way audio books do it. The people doing the podcasts have and easier time recording the words than writing them down.

Playstation 4-CNN Tech

Sony has revealed its new PlayStation console. It will have top of the line processors and graphics cards that will be able to support extremely high graphic games, the type that are usually only supported on very high end PCs. There will be a new multiplier system where users can broadcast live video game feeds to friends or upload game play to the PlayStation Network. There is a new controller with touch pad integration and  kinect (For Xbox 360) like hardware to purchase with the console. Sony did not show the actually console at there live event in New York but they may show it at the E3 gaming convention.

Blabberize vs. Voki

Personally I like Blabberize better. You can use any picture you want, not just pre-made ones like Voki. Blabberize was easier to use. Voki did not work on most browsers except Firefox for me. I would definitely use Blabberize again. If i had to present something in another class I could just pre-record it and put it into Blabberize and then have it play for the class. This would work especially well in history class with the historical figure.

Tracking Teresa

This video is about how easy it is to find out information about someone online. In a random chat room there is a user named Teresa01. She gives out a small amount of personal information. she gives out her name and that she likes basketball, music and hanging out with friends. I have put personal information online. i put my name, my age and my location on Facebook. i have put in my name for other things like for profiles on gaming websites and such. The most important thing to remember when using the internet is to not give out personal information to people you don't know. The other video I chose was 2 kinds of stupid. In the video there is a story about a high school athlete. He is a swimmer and gets good grades but he makes a bad decision. he goes to a party after one of his meets and takes pictures of himself with alcohol. He posts them online and gets suspended and kicked off the team. All of this happened to him just by posting those pictures online.

Status Cloud

I was unable to make a status cloud. I have too few post on Facebook.

Digital Footprint

1. I am proud that I have nothing embarrassing on my Facebook page or on my Google search.
2.  I am surprised to see that all of the meets I have swam for high school are on Google.
3. I am not embarrassed about anything.
4. There is not much that I would change to make my digital footprint better, it is good the way it is.

Cyberbully-The Movie

I really enjoyed the movie. It was really truthful and it had a really good plot. This movie was similar to the cases we talked about in class in many ways. It was a case where a teen girl is bullied by multiple people online and the bullying was mostly started by someone creating a fake profile. It is the same in many other cyber bullying cases. The movie was different because ABC Family played the story up a bit to make it more dramatic.  Many things that happened in the movie would not happen in real life.

Netiquette

Netiquette is a set of rules for how you act online. Most of these rules are not written anywhere or are not explained to you when you get on the internet. They are mostly common sense. Netiquette affects everybody who uses the internet. some examples of good netiquette are; not starting "flame" wars, being forgiving of people's mistakes, and respecting others privacy. Some examples of bad netiquette are cyber bullying or participating in flame wars, reading other people's emails or private documents, or not being ethical.

What's Legal?

Downloading music can be illegal if not your not paying for it. Music can be downloaded in MP3 format online on many various sites but many of these sites are illegal. Downloading the music without paying or uploading paid for music for others to download is illegal. Itunes and other pay-for-your-music sites are perfectly legal, and so is downloading the music if the artist offers it for free. this doesn't always have to apply to music either, it can be games, movies, or books too. People living in this age of technology, especially teenagers, are downloading music illegally all the time and they might not even know that it is illegal.

Copyright Lawsuit

Fantasy, Inc, who was the recording label for Creedence Clearwater Revival sued John Fogerty, the former lead singer. They sued him for stealing a song that he wrote but the record company now had rights to (after he left the band was forced to give up his right to the music). Fogerty wrote "Run through the jungle" while he was with CCR and then after going solo released the song "The old man down the road". Fantasy Inc. thought that "The old man down the road" was the same song as "Run through the jungle" but with different lyrics. Fantasy Inc. sued Fogerty and the court sided with Fogerty saying that the songs were not the same.

Sweden Research Project

I thought overall this project was fun. I learned a lot about Sweden and the people and places there. Bu I believe the funnest part was the research on the ice hotel, I really want to go there now! I found my research material rather easily because all of my locations had a specific website and there were numerous fact websites about Sweden. I thought the presenting went over rather well, I had a little bit of trouble at first but I then got in to a groove and just went on through. Normally I am a really bad public speaker but this presentation was different. For future research projects I would suggest animals, sports/movie/music stars, or  past presidents.

CNN Tech Article

I found this cool tech article on CNN. In the article multiple writers from the tech division of CNN comment on things that they want to happen in the tech world. they suggest a new social networking site, affordable 3-D printers, and for all the big name tech companies to stop suing each other. the article is an interesting read and there are many ideas that I completely agree with.
